West Main Street Water Main and Pedestrian Improvement Project
The Town will be undertaking several infrastructure improvement projects in the area of the West Main Street (from the Clinton House to the Red Mill Museum) in the upcoming months.
The first phase of infrastructure improvements is scheduled to begin on/about Friday, May 3rd. This phase of the project involves the replacement of approximately 350 feet of water main, and is anticipated to last approximately four (4) weeks to complete. The majority of the work will occur during daytime hours, however, due to certain State restrictions, there are some aspects that can only occur at night.
During this phase, all reasonable efforts will be made to ensure full access to the Clinton House, residential properties, the Red Mill Museum and the pony truss bridge. However, there may be times during the project that the entire road could be closed or have limited access to thru-traffic due to the location of the work and/or size of the construction equipment. The Town will be working very closely with the contractor to ensure that any inconvenience is as limited as possible, however, delays are expected. We encourage all residents, businesses and patrons to use alternate routes to access the downtown area if possible.
The schedule above is subject to change if the weather is not favorable. Should any changes occur, separate notices will be sent out.
The second phase of this project, which will address various pedestrian-related improvements, is scheduled to begin in August and last approximately four (4) weeks. A separate construction and traffic advisory notice listing all of the specifics associated with this project will be sent out once a commencement date has been finalized.
