This Saturday May 20th the Clinton Fire Company and the Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad will be holding their Anniversary Parade in Town during the midday.

Street closures for the event will create significant traffic delays on West Main Street/Old Highway 22/Route 173 both east and west bound in the Town as the parade crosses that highway.

Motorists are urged to avoid this highway between 1230 and approximately 130pm and to remain on I78 for east/west bound travel or local traffic that does not require crossing Leigh Street at the traffic light on Old Highway 22.

Approximate timetable:

Saturday morning No Parking will be posted on Halstead Street, Lower Center Street, Main Street and East Main Street

10am - Access to Halstead Street will be effected with south bound traffic only from Route 31, no north bound traffic from downtown/Route 173.

1130am - Halstead Street, Main Street, East Main Street, Leigh Street north of Route 173, Lower Center Street and Center Street between Leigh and New Street will be closed to traffic.

1230 - The parade begins south on Halstead Street, right on Lower Center Street, left on Main Street, right on Leigh Street, across Old Highway 22/Route173, continues south on Leigh Street to Hunts Mills Park where the parade will conclude.

During the height of the parade as it crosses Old Highway 22 south onto Leigh Street, the section of the street called West Main Street/Old Highway 22/Route173 will be closed east and west bound traffic at the Leigh Street traffic light until all parade participants have crossed the highway. Streets will be systematically opened to traffic immediately after the parade passes them. Every effort will be made to accomodate resident motorists during these street closures when it is safe to do so.

We cannot over emphasis that motorists avoid West Main Street/Old Highway 22/Route 173 during the timeframe of 1230 to 130pm or to expect prolonged delays at that location during this closure period.
